My design class and I had the opportunity to create clothing for seniors at the Ebenezer Home who expressed need. I was so fortunate to work with a lovely lady named Maxine, who had Alzheimers, and who needed a coat for the cold weather. She picked out all of the aspects she desired, and I created it for her. She loved the beige wool tweed with little flecks of gold, the long length, the large hood, large buttons, fun pockets, the simple cut, and the colorful lining. The buttons and interlining were recycled, and the lining was a vintage fabric sitting in storage. She was so sweet, and overwhelmingly excited– I teared up seeing how thankful she was. It was a wonderful experience.
